Tre’ McKitty attended IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. McKitty was a three-star tight end on the 247Sports Composite rankings and was the No. 18 tight end prospect in the 2017 class McKitty caught 25 passes for 341 yards and four TDs in his senior season leading the Ascenders to a perfect 11-0 record. He was named to the 2016 All-USA Today Florida first team.
In three seasons at Florida State, McKitty appeared in 20 games totalling 50 receptions for 520 yards and he scored 2 touchdowns. Prior to the 2020 season, McKitty transferred to Georgia for his final season. In 4 games he collected 6 passes for 108 yards and a score. He was invited to participate in the 2021 Senior Bowl.
