Matt Bushman attended Sabino High School in Tucson, Arizona. While at Sabino, Bushman a two-time All-State selection, and he led the nation in receiving yards as a senior. Bushman totaled 2,891 receiving yards in high school to go along with 42 touchdowns, and was recruited by Utah, Colorado, and Washington. He ultimately committed to Brigham Young University.
In three seasons at BYU, Bushman totaled 125 receptions for 1719 yards and scored 9 touchdowns. Prior to the 2020 season, Bushman suffered a season ending achilles injury.
