Cameron was a four star recruit out of Lawrence Central High School in Indianapolis, Indiana. He had offers from Vanderbilt, Duke, Notre Dame, Minnesota and Kentucky (among others) but chose to attend the University of Michigan.
Cameron did not play his freshman year, but within his sophomore and junior year he had 91 tackles (11 for a loss), 3 sacks, 1 PD and 1 forced fumble. He was an All Big Ten Honoree in 2019.
